Mothering Loon is a continuation to Common Loon Painting series. For many years I would go camping in the Moose River Plains of the Adirondacks. There is nothing better than waking up to a Common Loon singing it's majestic song. Ghostly and echoing, yet soothing.

Camping on the shores of Indian lake beneath the Tamarack pines (Larix laricina) and golden rod (Solidago) fill the breeze with a sweet aroma.

While in my Old Town Stillwater, I was able to get close to one loon not to far from basecamp. The mother loon gave me enough time to sketch and study her and her chick.
