For many years I would go camping in the Moose River Plains of the Adirondacks. There is nothing better than waking up to a Common Loon singing it's mejestic song. Ghostly and echoing, yet soothing.

Indian lake is roughly twenty miles off the beaten path that takes you deep into the backwoods. Tamarac pines and golden rod fill the breeze with a sweet aroma.

While in my Old Town Stillwater, I was able to get close to one loon not to far from basecamp. The loon gave me enough time to sketch and study the rich intense pattern on it's back plumage before diving for fish. Only to surface twenty yards away, five minutes later.
